Time Limit Enforcement

Laptops may be checked out for four hours, and may be renewed if no one is waiting to check out a laptop. Since the laptops are a scarce resource and we need to be able to offer them to as many people as we can, we fine students for returning their laptops late.

Renewals
Renew online at my.clicc.ucla.edu, by speaking to a consultant, or by phone. my.clicc.ucla.edu will show you when your particular laptop is due. Remember, renewal is not guaranteed! Click here for some my.clicc.ucla.edu troubleshooting tips. Here are the renewal rules:

You can only renew within the last 1 hour of your checkout session.
Why? Because when laptops get in high demand, people used to get sneaky about renewing before it got too busy so that they could keep the laptop longer. By renewing in the last 1 hour, we can ensure that other people get a chance to use the laptop as well.

You cannot renew if people are waiting to use the laptops.

You cannot renew if the laptop is late - you must bring it back to the lending desk.

Laptop checkout is a privilege that can be revoked if you abuse the service. The CLICC Laptop Coordinator reserves the right to deny checkout privileges indefinitely based on past abuses.
