Time Limit
You are allowed four hours. A/C power
adapters are included. Battery life will diminish within a few hours.
You can now renew your laptop online without returning to the checkout
desk as long as no one else is waiting to use it. Watch your battery
life though!
NOTE: You cannot renew your laptop online if your new due time (based
on the
renewal) is past the Closing Time. For example, You want to renew at
6:01 PM but Laptop check out closes at 10:00 PM. So, if you wanted to
renew the laptop, you would have to bring it back to the laptop pod
that you checked it out from to have the time extended until closing
time. Make sure you bring it back before closing, or you will be fined.
Renewals
Renew online at my.clicc.ucla.edu.
This site will show you when
your
particular laptop is due. Remember, renewal is not guaranteed! Here's
the renewal rules:
- You can only renew within the last 1 hour of
your checkout session. (Why? Because when laptops get in high
demand, people used to get sneaky about renewing before it got too busy
so that they could keep the laptop longer. By renewing in the last 1 hour, we can ensure that other people get a chance to use the laptop
as well.)
- You cannot renew if people are waiting to use the
laptops.
- If you renew in person, bring back the laptop
carrying bag and everything else with the laptop. If you only bring
back the laptop, the consultant will send you back to get the bag and
all the accessories. (Why? We don't want the stuff to be
unattended and get stolen, and also if you bring the laptop back to
renew and there's a line, you'd need to check in the laptop... with the
bag and everything anyway.)
- You cannot renew if the laptop is late - you must
bring it back to the lending desk.
- You cannot renew online within 4 hours of closing
time, but you can bring it back to the desk to renew. Just make sure
that you keep track of when closing time is -- the late fine for
returning a laptop past closing is $50 an hour! (Why? So we can
tell/remind you when closing time is so that you don't get too far
away.)
