Net Support School
This application allows instructors to monitor everything the students do on their computers in the classroom. They can use a lock feature to freeze keyboard and mouse use for the entire class when students should direct their attention to the instructor and not email or the surf the Internet.

Instructors can take complete control of a student's computer, including keyboard and mouse functions, at anytime. They can give computer access to all students at the same time and lock all computers once time is called.
Instructors can also share access to the functions with the students or have their own computer displayed on the students’ computers or vice versa. This function is valuable when students have specific questions since the instructor can view students’ work and have a conversation with that student using the chat feature without disturbing others in the classroom.
If you are teaching an internet based course, you have the power to block student access to certain websites, or restrict your class to specific URLs. For example, if you are searching for library articles, you can give the student access to all the library sites, yet restrict them from checking email or chatting. Or, if you are testing a Spanish class, you can block the student from accessing Spanish to English dictionaries, while allowing them to visit websites dealing with Spanish literature.
Instructors can also monitor all stations at the same time. During an exam, for example, Net Support School’s scan feature allows the instructor to scan the computer screens of the entire class every few minutes via the instructor station. The instructor can decide how many different computer screens to view at once and set various scanning time intervals.
The screenshot below shows the activity on four (4) student PC’s along with certain applications such as games that the instructor has blocked the students from accessing during the class.

(OCR) Omni Page Pro Scanner & Read Iris 7

There is a scanner at every instructor station in all three classrooms as well as several available in the CLICC lab. CLICC offers two (2) optical character recognition (OCR) software packages: OmniPage Pro and Read Iris. OCR applications allow users to scan papers, flyers, etc. directly into PDF, HTML or an MS Office application, such as Word or Excel, for further modification. Save your file for future editing, email it to yourself and even print out a modified copy. Ask a CLICC consultant for a demonstration or make an appointment with the Classroom Coordinator to use the scanners in the classrooms.
Read Iris 7 is similar to Omni Page Pro, but is available only on CLICC Macs. The difference is that the Read Iris program is able to scan and recognize certain Asian characters (such as Japanese, Korean, and some dialects of Chinese). So, if your document is in a Japanese script, then you will be able to scan it and edit it, if necessary, without having to download special fonts. This application also works great with MS Visual Keyboard.

Course-Builder for Dreamweaver MX

CLICC will have Course-Builder for Dreamweaver installed on each CLICC computer. This extension allows users to create on-line multiple-choice and True/False questions for the web. For more information, please see the CLICC Classroom Coordinator.

Microsoft Visual Keyboard

Every PC offered by CLICC is equipped with a handy dandy Microsoft Visual Keyboard. This feature allows the user to type MS Office documents in many different languages while using the English Q-keyboard. An image of a keyboard on-screen will show which key is associated with a particular letter in another language. Users can either type the letter or use the mouse to click on the visual keyboard. Ask a CLICC consultant for help using this feature.

MS MUI Document Templates

CLICC will have Microsoft MUI Document Templates installed for use with MS-Office for most languages. These templates, similar to those in English, provide formatting for such document types as business letters, faxes, and presentations appropriate to each language. For more information, please see the CLICC Classroom Coordinator.

Wolfvision Overhead projector & 3-D Scanner

CLICC has two visualizer projectors for classroom demonstrations using documents and 3-D objects. Bring in objects, books or class notes and project them on the classroom screen. When used in USB-mode, you can save the projected image as BMP, TIFF or JPG to print-out, post to a webpage, or email to students. Ask the CLICC Classroom Coordinator for a demonstration.

Interactive Whiteboard
This is an advanced whiteboard, available in CLICC Classroom A, which allows you to scribble directly on your diagram, save your work, and then print it for handing out. You can also email the diagram to the entire class or post it on the web. You don't even need to use a mouse or keyboard, the Ibid board has specialized markers that create the same pattern on the computer. This way, students don't have to take valuable class time to copy every single detail that's on the board.
