The Media Stations may be reserved for 2-hour blocks and used for video editing, image-editing, and audio editing.

Media Stations

The Media Stations are computers available to all users, although reservations are recommended. Reservations for 2-hour blocks may be made by calling 310.825.8208 or coming to 320C Powell Library Building. Reservations cannot be recurring but may be made in advance of the requested date. These stations are limited to individual use when classes are in session in CLICC Classroom C (320C Powell Library Building).

Users may use any CLICC mac to digitize and edit video. Users who would like to digitize video from Hi8 or MiniDV tapes must bring in cameras and the necessary cables to connect to the CLICC mac desktops or laptops. Please note that there is limited memory on these stations. Users must bring their own external hard drives such as a firewire or USB hard drive with enough capacity for their material. CLICC may provide a drive for use during your 2-hour Media Station reservation, however, this drive cannot be used beyond the 2-hour media station reservation. Users could transfer their materials to DVDs. If you're going to make a DVD, make sure to also bring blank DVDs beforehand, as CLICC does not provide or sell blank DVDs to use. DVDs take some time to encode & burn, so give yourself ample time near the end of your 2-hour reservation. You can also copy your footage on a portable hard drive and come back another day to encode and burn.

Provided at the stations are:
  • Power Mac G5 desktops with 20” Cinema Displays (3)
